Went fishing in Manasquan Inlet this evening on the incoming tide with an Ava A-17 and teaser rig. An over the fence fisherman said that he caught 20 undersized fluke with killies. I didn’t get a hit until the current changed from outgoing to incoming. Then I caught, tagged and released my first bluefish for this year with a teaser. Also caught, tagged and released an undersized fluke on the Ava. Caught, tagged and released my first cow nose ray with the teaser. Landed my first sea robin for this year on the Ava. My lure was bigger than the fish. Reeled in a spider crab that fell off the Ava when I lifted it from the inlet. Also caught a black Covid mask.

Have done very well fishing the inlet (from the jetty & wall) fishing killies all season. Caught in excess of 15 18”+ fluke, a dozen slots and hundreds of shorts from 6-16.99”s.
My last trip there was this past Sunday & even though I arrived at the end of the outgoing (by far not my favorite tidal stage for the fluke fishing the inlet) I caught 6 shorts & a a plump fluke that was just over 20.5”s.
Fluking should be very good next few weeks with the bait flushing out of the back bay/river.
Going to start bringing a few more set ups as I’ll start seeking bluefish & speedsters and another for blackfish.
