Yesterday I asked the mate if I could get some belly strips. He told me that Fish and Game had outlawed the use of belly strips except when taken from fish caught personally. This was news to me. When did this happen?

About 10 years ago. LOL Maybe even longer ago than that.. Even filets needed the carcass it came from while on the water to prove it was from a legal fish.


You have to match the strip to the LEGAL SIZED fluke you took it from. Otherwise illegal

I guess the mate just decided he didn't want the bother. I got belly strips on this boat several times earlier this year and alwys have gotten them on charters.

What's wrong with that mate staying legal? Was it your legal Fluke that he would cut them from? Have him strip a Sea Robin instead.
