I would like to do some togin this weekend down by the canal.I hear it is good. This would be my first time there. Any info on where you can fish etc would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Almost any street end has access. There is a path on both sides of the canal. In most spots you will be fishing over a fence that is about waist high. Try to fish around slack tides which are roughly 3 hours after Manasquan Inlet. During moving tides you will need at least 3 oz; I usually fish 4. This is the end of the season due to dropping temps so any fish are a bonus. Better fishing there is September and October.

Pretty good Tog bite on the Pt Pleasant side of the inlet. Outgoing seemed to be better....

The bite is better at the inlet opposed to the canal at this point.

I saw a woman catch a lot of undersized tog including a double on the Manasquan Inlet north jetty this afternoon. I caught, tagged and released 2 windowpane flounder with a Hogy epoxy jig. Landed fish on my last 10 consecutive trips. Saw a woman carrying a big kid fall backwards on the jetty rocks. Mother and child were uninjured. A spear fisherman swam across my fishing spot. There was a guy on the beach wearing a bathing suit.
