Need some input on reel for inshore ( mudhole) small tuna, codfish etc. Is the TLD 25 a good choice?? Is the penn fathom single speed decent? Ty in advance

TLDs are an excellent choice for what you’re looking to do!

I run 2 TLD15s and 2 TLD 20s in the mudhole, they do fine!)

You guys would fish for cod with a 25 TLD ?.
I don’t think you would stand at the rail long .

WAY too much reel for cod .
Be fine for trolling or chunking even mid size tuna .

Fathom 40 would be great for cod of all sizes as well as double as a great tuna jigging reel on the right rod .

Comparing those 2 reels is like comparing grapes to watermelons .

I have several of each. Fathom much better reel than Squall, more expensive.

Keep in mind the Squall has a larger frame. I have a Squall 40, it's almost as big as my 60 Fathom, and that's overkill for party boat tuna. 2 speed Fathom 60, big reel, but I got it on sale in the winter, 165.00, no tax, free shipping.

Fathom 25N might be a good choice too.

Penn 25 N will handle those fish easily ! I’ve been using them for several years with no issues . TLD’s excellent , I own the 25’s used them for bigger fish only
