Hope these image links work. We caught loads of pickerel, a bass, perch. I shot only a handful of photos of the fish. As I described in the "Stupid Question" thread, the ice was unusual. Glad I got out on the ice a second time. My power auger didn't start, but that didn't matter. Today I try to fix it.

No, it was Sunday. There were five inches snow on top of 6 or 7 of snow ice, a two-inch layer of slush under that, and two inches, maybe three, of hard ice under that. Where we got on the lake, there was only a half inch of original ice underneath.

Great pics and fish Bruce. You guys look like you had a blast. Well done! Looks like we’ll have a few more weeks of ice to play on easily. :D

I fished the cong today. The top layer is all ice not snow anymore. Easy puling the sled. Problem is keeping holes clean because the snow pack in between everything slushes into the water constantly. Also drilled a couple holes where i couldnt get my jig down and there was a solid sheet of detached floating ice underneath. Didnt bring my spud so i couldnt smash it. Could drill through because it just pushed down then floated back up. Moving it around with the scooper never cleared the hole and when i moved over 3 feet it was still there blocking open water. Super weird. Almost like the 1st layer of ice in this spot seperated and is just free floating underneath everything.

Nice Bruce you guys did well, as for the weird ice the layers are starting to freeze together. The ice that phil is talking about is strange to say the least i have not found anything like that yet. The rain has made the top layer of ice solid but there is still a small amount of slushy stuff in the middle. glad you guys got out and had some luck.

Eddie & Ice Badger, yeah, I was thinking on Sunday it shouldn't take TOO much more cold weather to fuse that slush layer & begin building the hard layer underneath. Forecast looks good heading into next Wednesday. I bought fresh premix for my auger; it started without protest, and it should be good to go. Want to get a Jet Sled, but I have nowhere to store the damn thing! The Flexible Flyer barely fits through the attic portal.
