Late report here guys, been hitting it hard swinging for the fences with little to show for it. Switched it up the other day and hit the flex before the weekend crowd and made a quick trip 45 mins I had two salmon on tip ups ad a few missed flags. Medium shiners did the trick, nothing on the jig....
One was a good one 16-18ish and the other was 13”. Good luck and be safe if you guys get out,

Nice mikey. I always had a tough go at the flex, jigging was always slow and did ok with shinners on tip ups. have yet to get one of those land locks.

i managed a 14" LL yesterday at wawa, 2' under the ice on a jig&worm. Not a single bite on tipups with an almost 5 hour soak in 2 diff spots set at all kinds of depths. super slow. f&g was out and brought me a tipup i left behind somewhere which was nice, esp because if you count that one that i forgot i was over the the allotted 5 eeek my bad

I live a little over an hour away from Aero. Not looking to spot burn. Can you tell me how thick the ice was by the boat launch dock or at the far north end of the lake? Does the ice appear to be safe or are there a lot of thin spots?

You are totally good my man, as long as you don’t mind walking through all this snow on top of the ice. Enjoy and good luck

Nice fish! I'm wondering, how deep did you set the shiners & over water how deep? We ice fished one of the salmon lakes a few years back, caught only pickerel. (Surprising thing is some of the pickerel were out in 30 feet of water where I believed no weeds existed, but then again, water is so clear, maybe some residual weeds were at bottom.)

Yes that lake you talking about they tend to suspend in that deep water very common there.

Same way you fish for trout couple feet under the ice, and don’t forget there’s rainbows so don’t be afraid to try some powerbait on one or two maybe
