Every season starts with Fish #1. Let's all post our first catches of the year to get things started off in 2021. Big, small, whatever!

Mine is a pickerel of about 12" on a swimbait from a local goose-toilet pond. It still might be the biggest fish I've ever caught from that place! :D Felt good to get the skunk out of the box early, though.

So what got all of you guys on the board to start the year?

Great post Lard! My first catch is already posted up from yesterday. My catches on day 2 of 2021 are the state fish. I walked a lot today and loved every minute of it!!!:D

Mine was a pickerel too! Also my 2nd. Pickerel should be the state freshwater fish, at least once the brook trout go extinct

Caught and released 6 white perch in a 38 degree lake this evening with Walmart red worm halves on two hooks and a jig. A brown bullhead big enough to win a NJ Skillful Angler Recognition Award broke my line and stole my rig. I’ll bring a net next time.
