Hopefully hitting the DR Canal tomorrow, guy at work said my only luck will be using live bait in Canal this time of year. I never fish it but wanted to try it out, is that true about the live bait?
I was going with spinners, zman, or swimbaits as my go to choices.

Wrong about the live bait! Ive caught fish in the canal with lures in winter :D

Good time of year to throw XL sized lures for dragons

I did go, not too cold and almost no wind.
I fished around Griggstown area. Water was kinda dirty from some work they are doing. No fish caught but lost 1 nice bass and had another fish on that I couldn’t see. It was big, fought like a pickerel. Both fish hit on dragging gulps on the floor. At least I know it’s worth the trip.
