Decided not to run to the Canyons with the quiet reports and zeroing out last week in the Spencer. Ran about 60 miles out of BI - TONS of life. Many Porpoises and Skippies out there. (cant tell you how many captains were calling them dolphins on the radio). Got to the grounds in 2 hours...lines in by 530. Purple Chatter goes off - landed plump 10lb bonito. Moved east a bit - Chute w/ Bally goes off. Nice 40-45# YFT eventually landed. Caught one small Mahi about an hour later. Most boats didnt catch- a few had 1 YFT and 1 boat had 2-3 and that was it. Quick run to the barn - under 2 hours ran at 41kts. stopped at the ridge on the way back and it was dead. Captains on the ridge said a few bft's caught earlier but most zeroed out. All bonito and YFT loaded with Sand Eeels.
