Had Russ out today, when he booked the trip initially
It was to load up on tiles, however Heard there was
some tuna in the canyons so decided to give them a
Try first. Ran the new 44FA to day in less than optimal
Conditions fog entire day. However felt confident with the
Girl that we would produce. Took sometime but found the
Break I wanted going from 53-65 degrees, action was fast
And furious got our unders limit and released even more
giving all the guys a chance to fight fish. After we had our fill
Went to do some tiles to finish topping out the box. Made a quick
Dash for home covering the 100 miles in less than 2 hours,
Extremely happy for first canyon trip with her!

Nice job Skip! That's still a long run at 60 knots to Hudson on a "let's see what happens" blind stab.

But you nailed it man! Better action than many had back in September 2018 (my last trip). LOL

That'll get the blood pumping! Nice trip and a LOT o' meat!

What kinda depths do you recommend for targeting the bluelines? We typically fish 600'+ and only get goldens--havent gotten a single blueline in 4 years.

Hey Capt Frank, actually covered 300 miles and
Covered more than one canyon till I found them.
With this boat I have 450-500 mile range, with a
Top end of 75. Everything is within reach now.
Tilefish always a good box stuffer if all else fails.

Jigman I have blueline and golden tile spots in every canyon.
Blue lines 300-450

Thanks Dupes, 15 years ago when I first started
Overnighting in the canyons on my 31FA people
Said I was crazy and it was a suicide mission, wtf?!
Now over 200 trips later Offshore now it’s the norm.
Now that I have built this machine my I am able to
Pull of the ultimate day trip. Tuna both midshore and
Canyon, tiles, mahi, and daytime sword dropping.

Thanks Capt. We typically only drop in 600+ when out there. Trying to convince the old man to dry shallower lol. No such luck yet! Looking for the same kind of bottom structure as goldens?

You must hate +5 footers with bad spacing that boat those motors? LOL Going slow like us sucks. Doesnt it?

You did Hudson and Toms or even more- Lindy?

Going to the canyon in five plus is more like work rather than fishing 🤣

Hey Frank not sure what your getting at?
Have you ever been in a modern 45 foot plus
Center console in anything over 5 feet? If you have
Any specific questions can PM me directly.

Btw guys, hitting our canyon in 5 footers not
An option. Fished too many days in 5-8 footers
Down south this winter, fortunately was running
No more than 5 miles.

Nothing, just jealous Im not doing that myself. Running a slow 31 foot diesel Rampage out of Manasquan for 4 or 5 hours is frankly a drag Freddy. :)

Some day Freddie. Some day. Teaching boating and towing boats all summer leave close to zero fun time. Working 7 days a week for months. :(
