fished out of point yesterday and it was game on from the start.they wanted the 27 on a slow retrieve.seemed that the jig was out fishing the bait but with the bait there were ling, cod and flounder.the jig was also taking the bigger fish.
a great day on the water with a great crew.all virus safety rules were followed.
be safe and good luck to all this season.

i love jigging sea bass. I usually go with a 17 and a sand eel teaser in the spring. Slow pitch jigs are deadly at times.

Not much of a Sea Bass fishermen so I have a few questions if you don't mind Bunker...

- Are you mostly drift fishing while jigging or can you do it anchored as well?

- Drop to the bottom reel up a few cranks to keep from snagging bottom and use the pole tip to yo-yo jig?

- Vertical jigging straight up and down or casting and retrieving?

- Favorite jig?

always depends on the conditions if we hook or not.drop to the bottom and slow reel up 20-25 feet and repeat is always a good bet..sea bass are hunters and will chase bait up very high into the water column so try reeling higher if your not getting hit.i like flipping out and working it back, reeling 20-25 feet and then dropping back.vertical jigging can be effective with most hits coming on the drop.vertical jigging is also a conditions thing.i like the ava-27 or like jig.i don't want to hold bottom,i just want to hit it.the retrieve has to be steady and just fast enough to have the hook swinging.i hope this helps.
