From Murphy today: "We are still, I mentioned earlier today, we’re going to have some pool, and charter fishing guidance as well. I hope all of that within the next couple of days or so. So please bear with us. If you’ve got questions about that, just give us another day or two and we’ll get back to you. On charter fishing and pools, needless to say, we’re trying to get stuff in place, so we can be in as full of shape as possible, when next Friday, the 22nd comes around"

And the Miss Montauk has a 10 hour old posting on their FB page,I believe, that says they have been given to go ahead to start fishing under phase 1 of the NY opening plan.
So...fingers crossed!!!.
Meanwhile, stay safe everyone!!!

You do know Capt. Stan passed away and his wife just passed also? Not sure if Jr. is going to be taking over the business, he has a lot on his plate right now.

They are assuming private boaters are sailing with immediate family members and are not being exposed to the general public.

Ya I mean forget about the fact that new cases have gone from about 4,000 a day at their peak to around 1,300 yesterday and have declined for 7 days now. Forget about the fact that his actions helped to flatten the curve.

I mean you can't fish on a boat so he has to go. The stupidity of that statement is frightening......

Not if you own a charter business.....just sayin. These folks are starving and it’s time to get back to life. Life is a gamble. Do your best to keep great hygiene and open up. The curve was flattened. Now move on

Just my humble opinion

Simple question: Have you done everything within your budget to help the fishing industry? If you are posting / complaining that the closure is holding you back from fishing on seabass opening day or fluke opening day or the balance of whatever season we end up with that means you are GOING to fish and PAY to fish when allowed right?

So WHY NOT send your favorite boat some money NOW so they are there when you can go. You are going to spend it anyway and if you dont get out I am sure they will honor it and guess what you helped someone in need NOW.

Its so easy to throw political blame around but its a country wide crisis that spans all parties, all people and most businesses. IMHO

Not if you own a charter business.....just sayin.

Except the person he/she quoted does not own a charter business, he's a customer like you and me.

And what do you suppose happens to the curve if you open back up to political pressure as opposed to solid data?

You can't work deck and social distance. It's totally impossible.

I can see them holding back .
Party boats could have people on them from 50 different towns and a few states .
Whole intent of current orders is to limit the spread .
Allowing that many people to head back to diffferent areas would cause a larger spread .

Comparing it to those standing in line at a supermarket or Lowe’s isn’t a good comparison .

Those people are shopping for the most part in their neighborhood , not driving an hour plus like many of us do to get on a boat .

It def looks like things are settling down with the virus totals .
I know Hackensack hospital is having less daily than the craziness from just a few weeks ago .

I would rather it stays more restricted for another week or two and we get back to life as normal then , instead of a quick resurgence and more restrictive measures by opening a week too soon .

Once things open let’s be able to keep them open , and resume life a little more normal .

.

Here is my example of this virus .
Compare it to a forest fire .

Those in highly effected areas are walking between the flames and see its intensity .

Those fortunate to be a town over see the flames and think hope that doesn’t get over here .
Little further away they smell smoke And think I wonder where that is .

Those lucky to not have the virus in their town don’t see flames or smell smoke and think wth is the big deal with those fires .

Each person carrying those flames back to another town , risk it being among the town walking between the flames

.

Yes the virus is still out there but we have flattened the curve. Let businesses open and let people make their own decisions and what risks they want to take. While still protecting those at high risk.

The country must open or it will never be the same! It’s time.

I say this and realize it is only my opinion and others have the opposite opinion.
Now I’m not saying open Manhattan in one fell swoop but there ARE places that can start opening. The unintended consequences of the shut down are piling up. If you start offering extended unemployment people will start choosing not to work and the next step is universal basic income.

We take chances every time we walk out our doors. All we can do is minimize the risk by changing our habits. If you want to wear a mask, great, or gloves whatever you have to do to not touch your face, do it! But we must get back to work.

Sorry for the rant and I understand if people disagree. Once again, just my thoughts.

Be safe ALL!

This is sad news and went under the radar apparently. Condolences to Stan Jr. and best of luck whatever the future brings.
