To everyone who fishes the bulkhead at the river in seabrite they have built a permanent 5foot high fence along the whole bulkhead I fished there Thursday night there was no fence installed went back Friday night there was a 5 foot high fence installed along the whole bulkhead starting from the bridge all the way down to the houses. Good luck out there and stay safe

I can't remember if anyone has ever fallen into the river and drowned along that stretch. It's all about insurance and liability. If a fisherman or drunk or anyone accidentally fell into the river and drowned, who would be sued? No one wants to be sued so you can see the reason. But, as I said, it has never happened, that I know of. This is the only country where someone's own carelessness and/or stupidity can make them a millionaire.

I have been fish that spot since superstorm sandy wipped out the house along that bulkhead even before the storm I was fishing on top of the bridge when we all still could and I can never say that I have seen or heard of any fisherman falling in the river and drowning there has not been a fence there since sandy and that was in 2012 now all of a sudden they put a fence up there killing a prime time striper spot in the spring and fall and I know I'm not the only person on this forum that fishes there

Could it have been the land owner that put up the fence ?

I know someone who used to fish there quite often, he said Dunkin Donuts put up the fence (on their property) because a couple of people who were fishing there were pigs leaving trash on the property all the time.
They killed the goose that laid the Golden egg.....for that area anyway. Can't speak for the North side of the Bridge but Probably because it's private property. If someone got hurt I'm sure they don't want to be sued.

I believe that's the township property the nearest house from the bridge has to be over 100 yards away

It's sad capt how our own fisherman ruin it for ourselves bridge fishing used to be amazing I have had many sleepless nights fishing on the highlands, sea bright, and oceaniac bridges back in the day but just like that us as fisherman ruined that privilege for ourselves and there will always be pigs out there I know personally if I see trash where I'm fishing at I always have a plastic bag from the store on my and do my best to clean up after somebody else so our future generations can enjoy the same privileges as me and hopefully others do the same

Since Contributory Negligence is an affirmative defense, and no one owed the duty to the drunk to protect him from his voluntary incapacitation he'd win little to nothing. And a BAC blood sample is easy to get from a dead drunk. In fact where (which town) between Monmouth Beach and Sandy Hook and the west shore he fell in. No matter. That's an on paper reason
But in short, the people dont want lurkers around their property. Or holding a fishing rods to case their property for surveillance cameras, nosy neighbors or occupants . NIMBY.
No matter, fishermen are out. Crabbing stinks there as the Shrewsbury current is way too strong. I feel your pain Bro.

Figures. Like Deal oceanside making you park in a mile away and the Sea Bright seawall. They protect their own.

I guess we just have to wait till the next natural disaster to take out this fence to open back up the real estate along the river hopefully not anytime soon NJ has been through enough already
