For some of you who fly fish, I want to inform everyone that Hendrickson / Red Quill are starting to hatch along with Grannom, Little Blackstone Fly, and Quill Gordon.

Hope everything is OK with you Bergen... You watch the news you'd think there was some sort of Zombie Apocalypse in Bergen County right now...

Be safe and stay well...

Thank you Gerry.
I stay home, work from home, then fly fish alone. :)
Too scared to even go to local stores or pick up foods at the local restaurants.

Yes - this is good information. I am in Morris county and less COVID-19 cases at the moment. Be safe and well... best place to be in the the water.

Fantastic Hendrickson hatch today ( 4/1 ) on the South Branch. You had to be where the trout were stocked, it goes without saying. These recently stocked rainbows had no trouble adapting from trout pellets to natural food in a hurry.

These are a little fuzzy. Focusing was a little tough while the breeze was moving them along on the surface. I watched as one was completely on its side after emerging upstream. It righted itself as its wings dried and became upright. That's when it dimpled the water as it prepared to liftoff. A puff of wind encouraged it to fly and fly it did. Others weren't so lucky.

And yes, I think the other pictures were of a red quill hendrickson. It was good to see the bugs starting to return. After the summer droughts and low water conditions, I was beginning to wonder what effects it would all have on the aquatic insect life.

Here's a live red quill and a guppy I caught with a dry red quill size 18.

Those are amazing pictures. Are you a professional photographer?
I have been studying 15 different types of trout rising form. Did you see any air bubbles? Did you hear any kissing sound? Depends on the rising form, trouts are taking either Dun, Emerger, Nymph or Spinners. If they are jumping, it's usually stone fly or most likely Caddis.
