Raritan river 22/20:

2 groups were out in full force, The Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership as well as Central Jersey Stream Team.

The river is getting lots of love early due to the snow less winter.
There was a big clean up behind the Lowes cinema off Rt. 1, always a trouble spot, lots and lots and lots of plastic bottles. (LRWP)
The other clean up was a spot near and dear to my heart as I worked on that section of Manville floodplain for close to 3 years, yet was never able to finish. (CJST) The1 knows, he spent quite a few days helping me clean that stretch. Can't wait to come up and see it, hopefully around opening day I can make it that way, home sick yes, but very busy looking at houses here.

From Manville:
17 tires (with 1 big tractor tire), a bike, a mechanical push mower, some kind of washer or mixer, a wheelbarrow, a folding table, a bunch of plastic and metal chairs, a fan, a toilet seat, a lamp, a bed frame, lots of buckets and pots, pipes, a tamper, lumber, random metal, and about 50 bags of recycling and trash. 6 pickup truck loads total! A great job by all!

The LRWP and the Middlesex County Chapter of the New Jersey State Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs welcome you to join us at 7:30 pm on Wednesday March 4 for conversation about the environment, fish and wildlife in the Lower Raritan. The LRWP will share our presentation on the “Top 10 Issues in the Lower Raritan Watershed,” focusing on water quality concerns in particular.
