Just as we have been accustomed to the stripers migrating north in the spring, you can expect the striped bass regulations from Maryland to migrate to N.J. too. Maryland has many historical areas and traditional values when it comes to striped bass fishing. Their seasons and limits are much different than ours and have almost always have been. They do have commercial regulations and different regulations for different parts of the Chesapeake and its tributaries. Many of the stripers we catch in the ocean, come from Maryland. Raritan and Barnegate Bays can't hold a candle to the striper reproduction in Maryland so many of their regulations won't apply here.

We could, however, look at reducing the size limits for stripers that are caught in places like the Hackensack and Passaic and Raritan River systems. One fish at 20" in those places would not even make a dent in the striper populations there.
