The last 3 have been tough in fact only had a few bites and zeroed out ! Today was the opposite managed 5 up to 17”’s ! Had # 47 over 5#’s on today , put excessive pressure to turn in heavy current . Bow n arrowed hook , fish jumping like crazy , couldn’t let her go I’m at head of run and fish clobbered my offering
at tailout . tailout I’m faced with a split waterfall with a an island in middle .
So instead of letting her go I attempted to turn her , did t work out !
Man # 47 tough , I’ll be back I’ll get that one .

50/50 depends on water temp on given day !

Basically correct but water height n clarity reflect on how and what you use as well ! Slow down your approach in winter I move slower and fish an area thoroughly if it’s holding water !

Way to go Cap’n! There’s lots of Trout to catch out there. Just gotta know what they want. I’m a huge fan of drifting nite crawlers and pink worms when the weather is super chilly. :D
