Anyone else remember catching flounder in the fall (now)
From Raritan bay shore???
No body even targets them in Raritan

Going to do an exploratory trip this weekend
Likely try great kills
And then jersey side - maybe union or keansburg

Any suggestions?

Do it!! I still do a couple trips in the manasquan every fall and the last couple trips i have done this year have been very good, catching 10-15 fish for only a couple of hours of fishing. So what it's only a two fish bag limit.

I certainly do remember and I can practically taste the Flounder...

On your way back from Great Kills to NJ, be sure to make a drop on Round Shoal... That was our go to spot and practically never failed us. My bet is if there are any around in the area, that's where they'll be.

Good luck and please let us know how you make out.

Got 2 16 inchers on ice in my fridge right now! They're fat and going to be divine stuffed and baked

Personally, I would go to where I used to catch huge flounder this time of year.. lots of them too , right around Union Beach just a 100 years or so off the beach.. Near the Keansburg Pier, over to say the Keyport Ramp/sailboat mooring area. That entire area was productive . The fishing there was phenomenal..

until it wasn't..

I can recall years when the boats from AH ran down there for flounder as opposed to the River/Ammo Pier area.
I can still recall the signs advertising "Jumbo Bay Flounder"...
Not sure if any are left at all there, but pressure has been light for years, and who knows, might be more there than anyone realizes.. bob

Definitely hit Round Shoal, that was one of my go to winter flounder spots in both spring and fall. When conditions were right, you could actually drift for winter flounder and clean up.

I fished Manasquan river yesterday for a couple hrs around the canal. Chum, clams for bait. Couldn’t get worms, one hit NG

I have never Fall fish for winter flounder, so if anyone is looking for some company I'd love to tag along and help with bait and fuel.

I'm happy to drive anywhere in NJ or NY.

Please send me a PM if so.
