Last week the artist formerly known as the directa asked if I would be interested in hitting a party boat in cape may on 11/23 with him. After debating the thought of having to spend 24hrs with him & his senility I agreed to the offer in exchange for lodging & dinner :)

Friday night I stopped at Jersey Hooker & picked up 1/2 a bushel of the most beautiful freaking white crabs I ever saw then headed to cape may. The old man bought me a beer & dinner than proceeded to fall asleep while watching hogans heroes :p I got to the boat at 6:10am got set up in daddys spot & waited for the old man to show up. He arrived & started playing Vinces hit list with all the classics like the wreck of the Edmund fitzgerald, james brown's get up, & losing my religion by REM also telling me all about the great prissywhick kingfish & croaker bite of 76......safe to say by 7:29am I was ready to get in my car & go home.

Captain headed out with a decent crowd aboard but plenty of room to move around maybe 25-30 fares. First stop was in about 40ft of water close to the beach I dropped down & Kevin the mate netted a nice 5lb fish for me to start the day. From there action never stopped even with 0 conditions Captain Paul kept trying to get us on the pieces & as long as u got your bait to the wreck it got destroyed, a lot of just short fish 14.5 inchers were swimming away with crabs in there mouth hooking themselves.

By days end I had 28 shorts to go with my limit of 4 nice chunkers 3-5lbs & 1 15.5 incher so quality keepers for sure. Pops got 2k & 8 shorts which is a banner day for him. Pool winner was a 8lb female & there were a few limits around the boat as well, whites seemed to get better bites but greens got bites as well. Have to say Capt. Paul & Kevin were fabulous to fish with & I signed a few autographs for some adoring fans & saw Bender from the site as well. Overall a wonderful day in to nice of weather. Next up back to where it all began Friday in Barnegat Light :)

Great to see you souf Joe. I used to travel to Pt.Pleasant and Belmar on the regular to go toggin'. The first time I patronized Capt Paul 4 years ago, I knew that was no longer necessary. The man's tenacity to keep you over productive bottom is unmatched by any party boat captain I have ever fished with. Job well done and hope to see you again.

Captain Paul Thompson is definitely "The Man" My favorite captain who can out fish anyone I know. And a perfect funny gentleman too. He has many, many years running party boats. Knows the Cape May area like the back of his hand. I hope his boat never sells because a lot of people will be sick. The Porgy 1V is the last full day boat left in Cape May. But between the regs, insurance, quotas, it's killing the fishing business. Thank God for the JCAA who attend all the meetings and put up a fight for the recreation side of fishing. We would be murdered by government bureaucracy.

About 18 years ago there used to be a Capt out of Cape May my group booked tog charters with. Can’t remember his name or boat but he called himself Capt Chaos. He was def a little off, and once we actually thought we were in danger went the SW kicked up for a few hours and we were far south from port and the beach....but this guy had his spots and this was back when the togging down off Cape May was ridiculously good. Had a few trips of drop and reel freight train hits all day when the tog were all 5-8# with a good amount over 10#.
