CANYON TUNA REPORT + Bonito & Albacore Special Saturday 6AM
Canyon Report
The tuna finally decided to turn on!
We had a very good trip on our Tuesday/Wednesday Canyon trip.
We had some of the best mahi-mahi fishing of the season with everyone catching their limit.
We started tuna fishing just before sundown. We didn't really do anything until the sun set.
Jeff Simpson landed the first yellow fin of the trip.
After that we had fish coming under the boat for most of the night. We would get a few bites
and then have a lull, and get more bites as the night went on.
Around 1:00 a.m. a large swordfish was hooked. About an hour later it was landed It weighed
approximately 300 pounds. During that time there was also another swordfish hooked and lost
at the boat and another one around 100 lb was landed.
It was quiet for a while and just before sunrise we had another shot at the yellowfin.
We caught fish on both bait and jigs.
It looks good for upcoming trips. Our next trip with space available leaves Tuesday at 7:00AM.
