Hi guys, need some input on reel size for anywhere from stripes to midsole trips to match spinning rod reel setup for Penn. I get these gift cards from work that's why it's for penn only. Some suggest the Penn 8500 with 50 lb power pro? Match with a penn rampage ( or ugly stick med/heavy) etc

8500 is a big old school clunky reel IMHO..Beside Stripers, what other fish do you intend to target with it?
If it where me I'd probably be looking at some of their newer lighter weight reels like the Battle Series... Much lighter but they've got similar drag ratings and you could use for Fluke or jigging without tiring yourself out with a big heavy reel...

8500 is way overkill for what you’re going to be doing most of the time so I’d go with the Battle. It will be it fine for Fluke, Stripers, Blackfish, Bluefish and Mahi..

I have a 4500 liveliner I used for stripers and blues that I like. It would be fine for fluke and tog. It's on a Bogan rod

one reel isn't going to do all those things.
Will either be too heavy for the inshore stuff or too light for tuna.
For inshore a reel in the 3500 to 4500 size is all that's needed,
The slammer 3 are a super reel for all those things.
For tuna Jigging a 6500 would be big enough if loaded with braid.

Get a battle. Good little reel and wont break the bank. 3000 or 4000 be fine
