Hit farrington today, thought we would do well. I thought wrong. 5 hours on water 3 bass total. Beautiful day, water was relatively clear. It is better than work. Boat ramp is still pretty rugged for launch

Over keeping not over fishing!

I stand corrected. Thank you, Wilson! Yes, over keeping!

Would be nice if F&W could stock bass into Farrington, even if it meant not stocking pike. For all the pike they dump into there, they are very rarely ever caught. Trying to help boost and create a good bass fishery just seems like a better idea.

I don't know if they even put pike in Farrington anymore, do they ?

You want bass, tell them !!

Thanks for the link, I did send an email. I will post when I get response. I hit farrington yesterday. I got a few bass, no size to brag about. The ramp is usable, but not for all size vehicles. Water temp very warm, but it’s good to get out fishing. When I first fished it 20 years ago it was considered a great bass spot, Not sure now

Looks like they've been stocking almost 3K pike fingerlings (~6") a year, the past few years.

as well as 242 with avg length of 17.5" in 2017 and 244 avg length 11.5" in 2018

Details here: https://www.njfishandwildlife.com/fish_pike.htm

In a lake such as that in such a heavily populated area, good fishing is next to impossible. just too much pressure. The state would have to impose restrictive bag limits, and then enforce them. I doubt they have the will to do so. Simply too many people fishing and keeping what they catch to eat..

Want to catch nice size fish in decent numbers?, Mandatory catch and release in some of these urban/suburban NJ lakes.. That will not only keep fish in the water, but will reduce pressure as well.. The bucket brigades that want to eat anything they catch won't fish the lake as much, if there is a risk of a big fine.... Well, theoretically, anyway... bob

I use to fish that lake a lot but have not been back in 6 years. Last time there was disappointing and parking was tough and launching was a hassle. I had some good days there 10 to 15 years ago and even had a big Pike spit my Brother's lure out when it jumped clear out of the water.
