Been getting some nice pickerel lately on jerkbaits and rubber worms. Wondering if they bite at night as much as they do during the day. Anyone know if that is true or not?

Also, are the techniques the same? Thanks!

Typically, no but there are always exceptions.. Pike and Muskies will hit at night more often than Pickerel, but early morning is usually the best time for any Esox species.. If you really want pickerel at night noisy topwaters are your best bet.. bob

Pickerel are primarily sight/ambush feeders, so your best bet is to target them during the day. You may catch a few at night with lures that throw off a lot of noise or vibration.

Yes, absolutely. I've caught quite a few at night. Though, dusk, dawn, daytime are better.

I wouldnt target them at night, but I've had them hit rapalas while walleye fishing at night and herring while hybrid fishing at night.
