Duke Island Park, 2 spots, nothing. Robert St., rolled a nice fish. Orlando Park, nothing. Somerville just below the Rt. 206 got hit so hard almost had the rod pulled from my hands. Before I could figure out what was going on the fish was gone. Did see the head and back come out of the water before the hook pulled, red and brown, every bit of 6 pounds, probably way more. What ever it was probably wouldn't have fit in my net, straitened out the hook on my jig. Rt. 206 at the Hillsborough/Somerville is the last stocking point on the Raritan, (although that has been disputed by some) My guess a big hatchery stocked fish. Over to Bridgewater/Manville, nothing. South Bound Brook nothing. Went 0 for 2 on the big water today.
Saw one other angler up on the "shale flats" in Duke Island Park this morning. The bug hatch was prolific on the upper half. Stopped by and talked to the Rutgers people looking to PIT tag American Shad, none caught they said.

Must have been something big to straighten out the hook like that!

what ever that was clobberd the hell out of that jig:eek: glad to hear that you held on to your rod that really would have sucked to lose a rod after a hit like that.

Heart breaker for sure Andy, but are you sure it wasn't a submerged log:p. Just kidding ya. It's things like that, that keep us coming back. Good effort

I know it wasn't this car motor, because that was pulled from the river on Saturday. :D
