Landed this poor guy yesterday. I dont think there is any doubt this guy was dangling unsupported on a Boga grip, freaked out and ended up like this. This is why I tossed mine in the trash after a few outings, they suck!

All esox should be netted IMO. A buddy just posted a pic on fab of a treble firmly placed in his index finger as a result of a pic thrashing about. I had the exact same thing happen to me. So for the sake of the fish and the fisherman, use a net. Too, pinch those barbs down.

agreed, i boga gripped one a long time ago and it just ripped it's mouth in half. that was the last time for me. on a side note, how the hell did you find water that isn't mud soup haha.

Poor guy :(

Im all for nets, no matter what freshwater fish, a net makes not only the fish's life easier, but your life easier, even if youre gonna take the fish for a meal. Just the way to go for handling. Many different designs and styles out there that work for the scenario. Wish it was advocated more by popular figures etc.

Nice to see Skunkcity back on the pike! Boga's have there place, they are great for weighing big dead fish!

I hate those BOGUS GRIPS with a passion. Closest I ever came to anything like that was my very old small rusted Zebco De-Liar in the bottom of my tackle box when I was 8 years old. What ever happened to holding fish ?? I won't use one even though I had a bluefish slip on me and snapped a dorsal fin spike off into my hand, had to go to the Dr. to get it removed. Amazing what can be done with a landing net and The1 proves it time and time again. I just started using a net for quality photos. I see people lip hanging bluegills and 10 inch slime darts off these things, C'MON !!!

If anyone is looking for a top quality landing net go with EGO with there thick rubber mesh. Does not take slime coat off, lures are easy to untangle, and very gentle on fish for catch and release. They are pricey, but you will never need another landing net. Just my 2 cents!

I hate those BOGUS GRIPS with a passion.!

The bass are more likely victims of those terrible culling systems the bass tourney guys use. They punch through the lower jaw with a stringer type clip????

Yikes, thats horrible. I've seen these grips in videos but never used one myself, going to keep it that way.

Never owned one never will!!! I like to touch the fish and molest them a little before returning them to the water.

This explains why there's always eggs coming out of the fish you catch :D

The problem is that for a lot of people it’s more about them and not the fish. They should photoshop their face on the fish! At least that one is still swimming (with a broken jaw). A lot of the released fish on Instagram, Facebook, etc wind up dead from poor handling. That one just looks bad.
