Took what’s turning out to be an annual Presidents Weekend trip up to Oneida. We got an awesome cabin right on the north shore with a great crew of ice anglers. Walked 40 feet out the back door onto one of the most productive walleye and perch fisheries in the north east. All of the drops were within a mile walking distance from the house. Fishing was good with flurries of perch (some jumbos) and walleyes from sun rise to sun set. Most of the wallys were on the small side but we managed to put a few keepers on the ice. I lost count on the amount of eye’s caught on Sunday. My buddy’s first fish outta the lake was the only burbot we saw all weekend, very cool fish. Oneida is a great place to ice fish and definitely worth the trip up with a crew. Of course we ate and drank like kings the whole time. Looking forward to getting back up there.

Oneida gets hit very hard by locals, year round.. tough to get big ones there..
Lots of smaller ones though, and a good variety of other species in there as well... bob

Nice job on the eyes, I have passed that lake too many times to count on the way to Pulaski and have always wanted to fish it but never have. I was always told there are a ton of eyes in there but they are generally smaller on average than Ontario, your report seems to confirm that. Well done and the Burbot is really cool looking!

sadly, they are in steep decline, and in danger of disappearing from oneida lake... they were ultra abundant, but have been killed for decades en masse because "fishermen" didn't like their looks.. Still thrown on the ice for seagulls by a lot of ice fishermen today... bob

i was told the opposite...then i caught that 32" eye from ontario last year, the guide said "that's a real nice one for here, but Oneida has some real monsters!"
