Was hoping to Ice fish a small lake about 15 minutes outside of Roscoe NY. I’m heading up the 16th. Anyone know anyway I can find out if there’s ice up there before I go?

Well you can always call a sport shop in the area. That said, I live in Vernon and roscoe is a good hour plus north. Based on the extended forecast I don't see an issue ice fishing that area.

I will also add, it always depends on what your comfortable fishing. I have been doing this for 40+ years so 4" of good ice is fine for me but I'm a good judge of ice conditions. Be safe and don't go on anything you are not absolutely sure is safe , good luck!

I called the gun shop in Roscoe and one of the guide shops. Niethier seemed to be to certain. The name of the lake is Muskoday. My buddy was up last weekend and said there were quads out on it and guys fishing. I was just concerned with that warm weather we just had. That being said the forecast from now til next Saturday gets about 1 degree above freezing for a very short time during the day and at night is the teens. Every lakes different and I’m not sure how the wind hits this one. 4 uniformed right by the house would be a beautiful thing. I think it’ll even possibly be thicker guess I’m just showing my nerves. Taking my 9 year old son and would hate to see him disappointed. Kid is a dream fishing partner and LOVES it on the ice! I’ll definitely call Downsville as well. Thanks for the info!

If I was going to head all the way to the Catskills for lake fishing, I'd target the reservoirs rather than the lakes. This book has many good tips to help make your trip successful.
