Had a good year, could always be better, but coulda been way worse. Finally got to catch my favorite fresh water fish through the ice. Nothing big, but good numbers. The yearly Walleye count rose from 39 total in 2017 to 45 in 2018. 42 eyes hit the deck of the Mugger in 2018 down from 52 in 2017. Started with decent NJ Ice fishing. Took a ride up to Onieda also. Had a couple great spring trips during the herring spawn. Banner day mugging the Tin Can jigging summer lakers. Also had a great late fall trip with 20 eyes caught but nothing too big. Got down to the Keys a couple times this past year hooking into some Wahoo and Black Fin. Got in a few NJ inshore trips chasing the usual suspects. Ended the year with my second ever muskie and PB.

idk how to make a collage, but here are a few of my best from this year out of state. epic sized walleye and almost a dozen big ass brown trout from NY. Also, mission accomplished on a giant white sturgeon from Oregon.

I state, I spent most of my freshwater time hunting the, possibly extinct, 31" lake trout and had plenty up to 29.5" but never landed the monster i was after... and my pursuit of other species def suffered from the obsession haha.

still had some great fish, including my first dd fluke at 31" 11lbs, some big NJ bass, beautiful tiger and pure strain muskie, and some nice sized tog to close out the year on the NJF togathon (techinally i mugged eddie and scott, but they deserved it)

Year started off great with a nice NJ musky through the ice. There was an incredible spring striper bite which I got my personal best NJ striper from shore around 20-25lbs. The fluke bite was decent at the start of the season and went downhill from there. Albie fishing was crazy from shore but the fall stripers didnt cooperate. Finished off the year with some NY trout.

My favorite thread of the year!

This year was about quality over quantity. Just missed my goal of catching 5 NJ skillful angler fish that included my PB Hybrid @ 25.5" and PB Waldo @ 27"

https://i.postimg.cc/GtTR5q1z/IMG-0089.jpg

Conducted night ops with Chrisper and JDTrout during the early spring herring spawn and landed some nice fish.

https://i.postimg.cc/TYh5R6TH/89-F4-C1-A3-C0-F6-4-A7-C-A7-C9-BB76-FE97-FEEC.jpg

Got out a couple times feeding Chrisper's addiction hunting deep water predators and broke my PB 3 times in one day in the early fall. Man was that an Epic Day with the boat landing ~20 fish. PB Lake Trout @ 28"

https://i.postimg.cc/PxpfgtWm/IMG-0088.jpg

Spent the summer harassing Greenies and Brownies on the Big Pond and Lake George where I totally got owned by my beautiful wife.

https://i.postimg.cc/8CfqDsYP/IMG-0090.jpg

She caught a ton of beautiful smallies, a 10" bull pumpkin seed, and a #$%# 25" Lake Trout on that stupid NED rig!

https://i.postimg.cc/8CT6grcL/15210422-CDE3-4-D03-8-F6-E-805557-DCA01-C.jpg

Well at least I had the boat in the right spot.

All fish released for others to enjoy! Hoping for a productive 2019. Tight Linez!

Nice catches guys. I’ve got no notable NJ catches yet, but looking forward to 2019.

It was actually a really good year of catching when I made the time to get out!!! I don’t travel often and my son has baseball on weekends 6-8 months out of the year. Lol!!! Gotta love fatherhood!!! There’s nothing better. I’m happy with 2018 just with the weather didn’t suck so badly every other weekend!!! For real!!!

Fun year with lots of memories! Like Eddie said, didnt get out as much as the last few years due to rain/work/family, but definitely caught some fish. Tried some new species and techniques this year, including ice Landlocked Salmon and Trout and once the ice melted, trolling for Landlocked Salmon and Hybrid Stripers. Mikey of course showed me the ropes with the planer boards and it was game on.

Rich, I thought you had a huge collection of fish you were gonna post? Quit holding back :D

I had a lot of new species, PBs, and overall great experiences fishing this year. Most notable trips would be the floats on the raritan with AndyS.

2018 was not bad for the black mamba and me..... had the mamba out for her yearly visits all around nj and some outta state trips. No to many beasts this year but a lot of fish caught. Some highlights of my my season were
- new pb rainbow 7 lbs 2 oz- biggest rainbow 2018 rvta
- new pb pike 41” skillfull angler
Had the boat for first road trip outta state and did well with the salmon in Ontario, did the night bite and did decent with the eyes and brids, hybrid. Bite was on fire again this year with many brids brought to the mamba this year.

I had a great 2018. 8 new personal bests: 26" walleye, a monster 60 plus pound striper (likely 65ish), 29" laker, 16lb brown, 25.5" NJ stream rainbow, 40"+ pike, 200+ lb tarpon, monster sheepshead.

I also caught 11 new species: blue marlin, Sierra mackerel, roosterfish, Pacific horse eye jack, Pacific jack crevelle, bluefin trevally, Costa Rican yellowtail snapper, tiger musky, Atlantic salmon and houndfish. Lastly, I got my esox slam, catching a musky, tiger musky and northern pike in one day.

Also had great tuna and marlin fishing off NJ, and caught and released more than 40 trout over 20" across three states. Had some king salmon and sturgeon as well.

Damn, JD!
Nice posts and some good looking Jersey fish fellaz! Though I haven't been able to get out as much as would've liked this year, I kept my eyes on these boards and still enjoyed seeing what's going on. So out of the time I was able to spare and actually wet a line, I did get a few decent fish and also got to explore new areas. No #Rivermonster this year😉😉, but any time I was out there was still great! Got some carp, river striper that me and my boy thought was hybrid at 1st, pike, and Larry from the Passaic; the gift that keeps on giving. Some Larry and my PB yellow perch from the Ramapo area. Decent smallie & Larry while me and my boy were killing it at Point View Res. And also tag-teamed what looks like the same exact tiger muskie that Justin caught. When I saw your pic, I knew it had to be!:p Hopefully, 2019 will bring me more free time. If so, you know where I'll be!

I had one goal in 2018--hit the 30" mark for walleye. I got really close a number of times then finally hit a true 30" this past fall. I tallied over a dozen fish 27" or better, 3 of which 29+". I had a banner walleye year in 2018. Other notable catches were 20+" smallies, countless hybrids to 25.5", 5 lb largemouth, PB muskie @ 45" and river pure strain stripers. I also had a nice offshore trip in late aug with my buddy chris, rob, Tim and my dad catching a bigeye at est 165-175 lbs, yellowfin and a big ol pile of tile. Here are some glamour shots :D Lookijg forward to 2019 fellas!

Those are some tough fish to follow. Made a goal of exploring more with my kayak so have some yak fish, pick and smaller bass were from a day in Nov when I caught 18 bass and 3 pickerel in 3 hours, the big bass is from central NY and a surprise weakfish. First wild brown. Done a lot more trout fishing than past years so included a bow pic.

Finally posting my 2018 catches. Notables from 2018 would be my first pickerel. Out of boat on a small Sussex county lake which is way out of my element. Also, got my PB channel cat. Not the one pictured here though. Sorry, have to take my word on this, was probably 20-22" 3 lbish. Both cats were caught jigging for smallies in the RR. Lastly, got my PB striper on Mother's day. Not impressive but it is the biggest one I caught so hey...
Yearly trip to Missouri yielded a lot Rainbows and Browns..nicest one below taken on 3/16 Johnson's blade bait in long, deep, fast stretch. One after the other..Hardest fight though was a modest rainbow but ugh how he just ripped a few times on the ultra light set up thought I had a monster.
2018 was just ok for smallies in the river. Only got like 4 good ones i.e 17-18" 2lb class maybe
