NJ Squatch and I got the tin can on hopatcong and had the whole place to ourselves due to the draw down, but we just couldn't find and size. We started off targeting hybrids and had a few quick ones and thought we were going to be in for a banner day...nope, that was it for them. two bullheads after that (one of them big for the species)

we started moving around a bit trying different areas. I caught a glimpse of a bigfoot like creature popping a squat under an exposed dock (should've taken a picture as proof, but i guess it'll remain a mystery :D)

after a while of nothing happening we switched over to blade baits and started catching again, but still not much size. Duane got a real nice crappie to the boat and lost it as he was wallowing in defeat of just losing one of the biggest crappie he could've caught i look down and see the damn thing doing the 'crappie opossum' just floating there so i just grab it hahaha.

A bit after this i hook a feisty little smallmouth and it swims the line right into my spinning prop...so again i just reach in and grab this fish too (still not really sure how it didn't come off)

just two googans in a tin can, don't worry about it.

we moved on to target some yellow perch and slammed them, with a few 11-12" but mostly dinkers...the fickle whore that is lake hopatcong would not give up the beasts this day, but at least we had some multispecies small fish action.

i hope these small fish pictures don't offend anyone:

Nothing wrong with small fish as long as you're catching em!! Way to make things happen out there.

Great time to launch small boats if you can find a marina open with the major draw down, talk about having the place to yourself !! KDC will sometimes have a list where to launch, one year it was the yacht club. Worked for me in my small 12 foot boat.

Nice catching. Good mixed bag for sure. Coincidence to see a bigfoot with NJSquatch aboard. :D

No worries on the small fishies, perch and crappies make for one mighty fine meal!!!

Mating season, just marking his territory.

It was a sh*tty dock anyway:p

glad to hear that you guys got out. the fish you got are better than getting the skunk. that crappie is nice as well as that smallmouth by the way you guys are not googans. what i want to know is how squatch got out of the tin can without you knowing it? sneaky squatch:rolleyes:

Line in the prop is the WORST. Right up there with mooring lines. Leaning over the transom when its cold is low on my list.

did you see my muskie report a few weeks ago? Had a big 42" go right into some clown's sailboat mooring buoy with no float on it and it took us 30 minutes to get the fish free of it.
