Hit my honey hole in the rain last night and caught a walleye and smallie both in the 16" range. Both caught on a minnow plug. Had a couple more hits that didn't come tight. Fish the surrounding area but nothing doing. Fished from 6 to 9.
Went back to the river but to a different area. A spot I haven't fished since the spring. Water was decent looking. Tied on a rattle trap and on my fifth cast hooked into a nice fish. Fish stayed down so I was thinking it was a nice sized walleye but as I got the fish closer and it broke the surface, to my surprise it was a member of the exso clan. Fish was not ready to come in and put up a great fight diving and taking drag. Well finally got him tired out and he came to net. I would say he was a good 2 feet long. My first ever muskie...I think it's a tiger. I'm sure the other experts on here can verify that. Fished for another hour or so but didn't get any more hits. Came home when it started to rain. Gotta love the big d. So full of surprises.

Not a tiger, but has some cool markings. Almost looks like a leech strain but with bars.

Congrats on your first ski!

Congrats on your first ski! It looks like a pure strain to me. I've seen some pure strains with barring in NJ, cool looking ski!

cool fish, i was going to say pure strain too. all the tigers i've seen have had more distinct full barring, but i've seen pure strains with faded or partial barring.

Its a tiger for certain, but agreed the markings could go either way, but to me look more "tigerish" .. Pure strains have less distinct and more variable markings typically.

Actually tigers outnumber pure strain in the delaware multiple times over..

Second and most importantly, you need to check the fins.. The ventral and caudal fins on pure
strains are much more pointed,, those pictured on this fish are more rounded..
In either case, a nice catch, one that doesn't happen every day, no matter where Tigers or pure strains exist... bob
