Last Thursday night was my first outing in 11 days. Not fishing for this amount of time can be detrimental to your health. Trust me I know this. I was feeling very tense in recent days due to my fishing withdrawals, LOL!

Got out of work early and went to catch some bait. Made bait quickly and set up on the Flathead grounds. Sun was still up when I got out there and it felt great. The rods started going off around 745 and thats when I landed my first fish. Nice Flattie around 30 inches. This went on for the next 2 hours. Wound up landing 4 out of 9 and running out of bait at 945. I knew I should’ve caught more. Oh well it was still a blast to be out there alone with all the bugs, creepy crawlie things and Coyotes. All the Flatheads caught were in the 10lb class and measured 28-31 inches. Nice session on the river! I feel relieved! LOL! TIGHT LINEZ ALL!!!:D

It's not too bad. I was on he water last weekend. The water is high relative to where it usually is this time of the year, but not unmanageable.

The water is unusually cold and more turbid than you would expect for late August, but the fish are biting just fine. I caught a bunch of channel cats and a striper and some small bass.

The problem I ran into was the mosquitoes. Before the sun even set, clouds of mosquitoes descended on me. I bailed on the fishing and paddled back to my car as fast as I could. By the time I reached my car and loaded up my kayak, the top of my head was textured with little bumps from mosquito bites. Dozens of mosquitoes followed me right into my car and I had to drive home with the windows down to keep them from biting me while I drove. It's the worst I've ever seen it.
