i have witnessed this myself on a north jersey beach several times. it's amazing how aggressive fluke can be. they are sometimes not the wait-on-the-bottom-for-something-to-swim-by predators most people think they are.

Very cool! Never saw it to that degree but have seen fluke rise at night under lights in bays chasing schools of spearing and or peanuts. Years ago when the Long Branch pier was still around, many times saw fluke come to the surface in 30 feet or more of water and chase your bait while retrieving to take another cast. They are a very aggressive fish when in the mood.

I’ve seen this a few times on the beach in September, never to this magnitude...however I witnessed a full on sundial blitz on the surf with literally hundreds of them on a huge schools of rainfish.

Amazing..I never saw fluke breach like that but have seen many times while shallow water fishing fluke chase my bucktail up to the surface..so anything is possible

I saw this a few weeks ago in the Manasquan River. Really thought the heat was getting to me and then I saw a post on another site and realized it does happen.

A couple of weeks ago, an osprey flew over my boat, carrying a fluke. I was wondering how he got a fluke, but I guess that's how he caught it!

I have an osprey that will perch in my tree after a catch. They eat the heads off the fish before they bring them back to the nest. I guess so the babies don't get bit One day there were two headless fluke on my grass. What I can't understand is how they can see them in the water but if they drop them on the grass they don't pick them up.
