crappie action on the cong

hit the north end of the cong today and went back to the same place that i had some luck last time out and did not get the same size fish but had decent numbers. i had to move around a bit to find the bigger fish and ended up with a nice mixed bag of fish. 1 slime dart, 1 rainbow trout, 1 roach, 15 sunnies and 37 crappies. i let most of the fish go except for 9 crappies for the table. it was a bit windy out there today and i fished a bit deeper than i usually do to get some fish but the method was the same jig-n bobber that has been working for me lately. i got the trout and the slime dart on a fin-s fish jig fished near the bottom about a foot and a half off the bottom to be exact. the fish were spread out so i had to cover some water to find them.

Nice stringer of crappies. This is the time of year for a mixed bag. I too noticed the mixed sizes of crappie in schools. Lots of small ones mixed in.

Thats great I think over the last 5years the crappie has definitely become one of my favorite fish. They are fun to catch and second to none when it comes to eating.
