Headed out to the Delaware in search of shad. Did see any fish being caught be the handful of boat and shore fisherman.
Decide to hit Big Flat Brook instead. Got one rainbow in the 1st spot I tried. Switched locations and found 2 deep pools. Managed to pull 2 more rainbows out of the 1st pool. Moved to the 2nd deep pool and caught my new PB (for NJ) rainbow trout. Fish was just over 20" and was fat. Awesome colors on it. Big for a stockie but probably too small for broodstock. Do you think this is a hold over from last year?

Chunkie thing there! Nice fish. Would a holdover still have a girth to it? From my understanding they slim out and lose that fat over time in the river.

Congrats on the Pb man. That’s a bruiser Bow! Yep, yep! There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes on that river. It gets some super nice fish from the secret society, Hahahaha!!!:D

Could be either/or. My guess would be a fall stocked holdover based on appearances. Nice catch!
