a buddy and i hit the cong by river styx bridge this weekend and crushed the crappies. we caught good numbers and some of them were over 14" the majority of them were in the 6 to 12" range. we got them on live bait and jig-n-bobbers. we fished jigs two ft under bobbers. the fish wanted the offerings slow, we would reel then pop the bobber then let it rest and it was game on. we also got one rainbow and a bunch of sunnies. the best part no slime darts:) i fished sunday in the north end of the lake with no love then went to fish another spot and met up with my friend and a friend of his and we went back to the same spot we fished on sat and crushed em again using same method. not as many fish as sat but bigger fish. it was a great time spent with good people. the key was to fish the skinny water. with the up and down temps we have had this month you had to find them in coves with weeds that were greener than other spots around the lake. all fish were released to fight another day.

Nice report and good to hear bite is still on. All I found Saturday were monster slime darts and a few largemouths. Shiny jerkbaits did the trick in 43 degree water.

great report.
Dropped the boat Sunday for the first time this year. She was not happy to be in 38 degree air and 42 degree water, cranky 2 strokes! Finally got her going and burned off all the winterizing crap but I froze driving around in that NW wind.
Hit the canal area and found a steady crappie bite on a pink/black crappie magnet 4' under the float. They wanted it slow. The bite was subtle. The float wouldn't even bounce it would just start moving. Caught about 50 fish with a few bigger ones mixed in. Largest was 12" and all were released for others to enjoy.

hey capt ed bait is anything that has life and is not plastic. ex- shinners, meal worms, night walkers you know" meat " sometimes you have to cheat and go to the meat. hopefully the weather breaks and we get some warmer weather to turn the hubcaps on. we had better sizes sunday but only a couple of them were over 14"

You guys are killing me with the great reports. I keep adding new mods to my boat and missing days on the water with it. It was getting a Minn Kota Deckhand 40 installed this weekend. It's at Sew What right now getting a new cover made and should be done Thursday. I'll be on the big pond in my brother's boat(OG Dirty Hooker) that day as well.

consider skip the deckhand and switch to a trolling motor with spotlock/anchor mode, so much more convenient. i used to have a deckhand on my last boat, didn't bother with it on the new one, only use spotlock.

I have an Ulterra with spot lock already. Spot lock doesn't keep the boat positioned in one direction when I'm dropping bait so I still need to use anchors as well.
