2018 Opening Day @ Spring Lake

Per usual, The Shark River Surf Anglers Club is holding their annual Kids’ Fishing Contest.

The Town of Spring Lake approved of a “Kids Only Fishing Zone” for the Southeastern portion of the lake from 8 AM – 1:30 PM. During that time period, adults will be limited to fishing only the Northwestern portion of the lake.

Note: The NJDF&W did not approve of this, & their Conservation Officers will not enforce the “Kids Only Fishing Zone”.

It is the responsibility of the town, who owns the lake & approved of the restriction, to enforce it.

Wasn't the whole lake kids only in 2017 and previous years?

The contest is a kids only contest, but since the lake is also stocked by the state, they can not limit access. So adults are fishing as well as the kids.

NJDF&W stocks trout there in the winter & spring.

Shark River Surf Anglers stocks trout there in the spring. And, they may have been socking trout there in Jan / Feb. for the past couple of years.

So, lots of trout in Spring Lake for Opening Day! Over 106 trout / acre.
