Hit the Pohatcong creek this morning to do some Troutin'! Nobody on the creek and plenty of fish to be caught. The usual Rainblow Trout were feeding but acting a bit sluggish due to the cold front that moved in last night. Then this beast fell for the dreaded "PLUG!!!" What a battle and aerial show this fish put on! She was up and down the river 3-4 times and then went under a root system, sheeeeeeshhhhh! Im not sure how I got her out of there. Fish measured 20 inches on the nose and super thin. Nice long full fins with white tips, not much in her caved in belly at all. I tried to give this skinny Trout a dark chocolate Milano cookie but she wasn't in the mood I guess, LOL! Beautiful day to be out and about!

P.S. There are a ton of Trout in the rivers right now. Just gotta pick the right one to fish.
Musky- running high and super stained.
SB- running a tad high and tea colored but manageable.
SR creek- perfect.
Mulhockaway creek- perfect.
Delaware river- super dirty and unfishable.
TIGHT LINEZ!!!

Last spring I drove along the Pohatcong Creek from Rt. 173 to its mouth on the Delaware. I didn't see too many fishable spots and the ones that I did find had at least one fisherman in them. The best strech is about a mile up from the mouth down to the Delaware, but it was all posted. The Pohatcong's not a bad trout stream but with the Musky so close by I probably won't bother with it anymore. Then again maybe since the Musky gets all the attention it's all the more reason to spend some time on the Po'.

That stretch by the Delaware is beautiful! Unfortunately it’s owned by a club. There’s some good holes to fish but it takes some walking to get to the more productive holes. When the Pohat is low it’s super tricky and the fish are skiddish and spooky. It seems to produce more after a little rain.

Man, I just love the fight in those tigers! Not at all surprised to hear your tale of her antics, they are awesome fish! Excellent job on a true coldwater fish!!

Eddie does it again. It's not a fulfilled trout season until he gets a tiger

Nice catch, and by the looks of it smaller streams are recovering faster from the high flows we experience earlier this week.

I hope to go out somewhere myself tomorrow.
