Could be leftovers from fishing trips. Not all fish make it after a day in the well and then liberated. How many are we talking about?

I see them floating around dead by the hundreds at least once every year.. not sure why so many die off.. but there was a similar event that I witnessed years ago where so many peanut bunker were being pushed by big blues into an inlet all day long, even through low tide.. there were so many fish in between the walls that you could go down and pick them up alive. They were just laying there as they had no where to go without being eaten. For 3 days straight there were tons of dead peanuts and even some dead blues floating out of there with the tides. Bunker suck up a lot of oxygen and the amount of fish vs the amount of oxygen in that inlet was probably way off balance. I'm assuming all of those fish drowned in there. Its possible that's the cause...

beachbunker is on. Oxygen displacement. Usually the bunker in the middle of the school are not getting enough oxygen and die. X's across the eyes

dead bunker update , was at the river this morning and they are still alot floating and lying along the shore some seem to be barely alive and the dead ones look not too healthy. i thought that they spawned early in the spring and it seems kinda late now if i am correct. They are usually around all summer into fall when they peanuts show up depending on the amount of rain we get.
