Default Saturday Striper Fishing on the Big "D"

My dad and I went out with my buddy Big "D" River Guide Dieter Scheel yesterday. We left from the Morrisville PA ramp at 1:30 pm on a high river. The first 4+ hours we fished for herring and got all the action we would see all day. We caught about 5 or 6 huge herring, a bunch of white perch and a bunch of bonus shad, both American and Hickory. The shad were a blast. My dad also hooked into something huge that he fought for about 10 minutes. Since we were using Sabiki rigs this thing must have been barely hooked and came free right at the surface before we got to see him. Whatever it was, this thing had a TON of power. Dieter guessed it was either a huge roe shad, a foul-hooked striper or even a sturgeon. At dusk we started live-lining the herring with striper crashing on bait all around us. Not a one would bite though....plain weird. All in all, tough conditions, but we made a day of it.

Thumbs up Re: Saturday Striper Fishing on the Big "D"

Great report ! Sounds like you made the best of a tough situation.
The river continues to receed at about a foot to a foot and a half per day.
