The Governor in Waders!

Work was getting to me today when a funny thought made me laugh. I imagined the governor in waders on opening day at Saxon Falls. When I stopped chuckling I started to think back to a time when the governors of New Jersey actually did fish on opening day. Most of the NJF members are probably too young to have actually seen a governor rubbing elbows with other trout anglers just like an average Joe, but it did happen.

That's when we also used to get press coverage for the opening day of trout season. Did anyone read anything in the Star Ledger? Maybe I missed it. My, how times have changed! That vision of Christie in waders will keep me smiling though.

Remember it well when I was a kid, any restocking was never annouced back then but that image stands vivid in my mind of that Saxton falls crowd each yr w/the governor standing tall in waders.
