Default NETKEEPER - Sunday 10/4 Bottom Fishing Trips Report

Had a trip Sunday morning trip and the party showed up two hours late. After a 40 minute ride in pea soup fog we arrived at the Sandy Hook reef. Within 15 minutes of coming tight on the anchor we had only one fishing, 3 people succumbing to Mal de Mar and the other two attending to their sick friends. Within 25 minutes they wanted to return to the dock, so back we went in the pea soup again.

Having shucked a bushel of clams and respooling 4 reels with my mate while we were waiting earlier in the morning, on the ride in I started trying to raise a crew for an afternoon fun trip. Found two takers (Joe & Matt) and off we went around 1:30 in the afternoon. Limited by time and the forecast, drifted some close spots for Sea Bass and then anchored on the Sandy Hook Reef again for an hour looking for Porgy's and Tog. We managed a dozen keeper Sea Bass with more Sea Bass than we could keep track of going back, 20 Porgy's and the final whistle fish taken by Matt was a 25" Weakfish. We also played catch and release with some short tog on Green Crabs.

We were treated to an incredible Sunset on the way back to complete our salvaging the day. Nonetheless, felt good to be in the saddle again after a long weather induced hiatus.

Eddie, Yeah, would you believe that was what they felt comfortable getting bloody, fishy and wet. I had also warned them that the later we left the harder it would be to find a parking spot.
