Default back on the river

Decided to hit the river last night. Conditions were not the best. Lotsa floating weeds, something must have happed up river. Well, throwing the plug was out of the question. Used a kietech on 1/8 once jig head and caught to shorty walleye around 17". Switched over to a swim shad and landed 2 river stripers ( eddie was right?) . Lost a couple more and called it a night around midnight.

Thumbs up Re: back on the river

I heard those stripahs will spend up to one year in the ribber before moving on. They fight great for a small sized fish.

ALS tried fishing just above the Gap Friday night for eyes and the weeds were insane. Couldn't retrieve your lure without immediately being covered up. Wasn't sure if it was a release further up river or just run off from rain upstate. Had the same situation a few years back trying to fish for flatheads with Chrisper, the amount of weeds was off the charts. Not knowing where you fished but kudos for landing four and missing a few others. I switched from jointed rapalas to a keitech as well and had the same problem. It was literally unfishable where I was.

Anyone have any idea what happened, were there bad storms up north? Water quality looked decent and the river level seemed normal so not sure what the cause was. Saw a few black bear and decided it was best to head home as opposed to try exploring new water at night.
