Default Key West Recommendations

Don't want to sound like a broken record but headed to Keys the second week in April and looking for first hand info on charter boats. Something which may due split charters and comfy. Thinking on reef or Mahi fishing.

Compass Rose Charters....Capt. Mike Weinhofer. Incredible Captain with a small fleet of gorgeous Sea Hunters and flats skiffs. Capt. Mike is a phenomenal fishermen who's incredibly tuned into everything from sailfish to wrecks. He's also a total blast to be on the boat with and is a Jersey transplant to boot. I fished with him a few days, caught tarpon and tons of other species and had a total blast despite crappy conditions.

Check out Hurricane Hole Marina, Stock Island, Just before Key West. Some of the best charter boats in the keys. My favorite is Capt. Jason Johnson, Triple J Charters. Knows where the fish are.

If it's a big boat experience you want, check Capt. Gene on the High Class Hooker. He's a transplanted N.J. guy originally from Bayonne.

You never mentioned on which key you'll be staying. Is that up in the air based on what charter intel you receive?

Don't think the mahi fishing gets great till the summer but should be plenty on the reefs, but I personally would hit the flats, think that time of year the tarpon are in good
