Default I need a place to fish, near Somerset County

I moved here (New Brunswick) from out of state, need a little help finding a good spot to fish. I had a good day at Duke Island Park, but looking for other water too. Any suggestions in Somerset, Hunterdon, Morris Counties?

D&R canal, weston canal rd manville. park at nj american water and cross the canal via walk over. from there you can fish the canal, the millstone, the raritan, and even a feeder stream that has crappy all within a 300 yard radius.

You can also try Farrington Lake in North Brunswick. It's not far from New Brunswick at all. Just Google map it...Good largemouth population in there.

The other suggestions are great. Are you land locked or mobile (have a boat)? Can make a difference where you go.

Farrington is good spring and Fall, best if you have a boat and fish the pads.

Assunpink is also good, but with very limited shoreline access...need a boat for best results.

Sprucerun...need a boat

Round Valley...boat or shore, may be better on a boat

Colonial Park in Somerset, shore only...lots of dinks and weeds

DWC-lots of fish, watch out for the trees...better on a canoe

Raritan River...others have commented

DR...another option

Lots of rivers etc holding Fall trout...all accessible from shore and Andy has posted trout stockings there...good option if landlocked

Welcome to NJfishing.com sbmin7 and post those reports wherever you go.

NJ has lots of great FW fishing opportunities for those that seek them out. Don't forget to check out the SW options

Thanks everybody!
I don't have a boat. Looking for where to park to access the sweet spots. Great tips from you all, I'll be out there this weekend!
