Default Catching Salmon in the summer

Does anyone have experience catching the NJ landlocked salmon during the summer? (Aeroflex, Tilcon, Waywayanda) I have been scoring zero in trying to catch them and any help or hints would be appreciated. I am using live herring, but the salmon are not playing fair. I can catch the salmon in the spring by drifting herring.

What is the fish finder showing you? I havent fished for Salmon in the past month, but my guess is they are a tad deeper now with the heat. Also, are you casting or trolling?

maybe someone has it figured out but i doubt they'll share...I have a feeling they might be feeding at night but never tried night fishing for them. I tried a few times over the past month on days i thought would be good and caught everything BUT salmon so i threw in the towel on salmon til the fall. so if you ask my opinion, pick another target species until the water cools down.

Hey Chris,
I have not tried fishing at night for salmon, but I am going to give it a go. I have fished live herring from 60 deep to the surface. I can catch fish, especially when not fishing too deep - but no salmon.

The Salmon are running 40 to 60 feet. Wonder if there are rainbows and salmon in the mix. I cannot trigger a bite from them morning or evening.
