Default Raritan River Report

Launched the rat at the N/S branch confluence again. Headed up the NB first to my honey hole and got 8 cookie cutter bows in an hour on a two tone spinner. Back to the confluence and up the SB to another honey hole for 2 feisty little smallmouths on a keitech. On the way back to the C stopped at a laydown where a school of carp were blowing up on a pod of baitfish. Anchored up and watched them swim around the boat like a school of bluefish, never seen carp that active. Saw three banded watersnakes swimming across the river, first ones this year. Got too hot by noon so I bailed (saw a trout belly up on the way back to the launch). Pictures aren't worth it, nothing exceptional today.

I must have seen 6 snakes just at DIP yesterday. One huge one two like 5 feet long but my mind can be exaggerating.

Northern water snakes get close to that length. Seen some big ones on the raritan and the canal. Vicious too. They'll chase ya!
