Waders - Black River
So, I am new to Fly fishing and finally caught trout with the pole. For Father's Day, I got myself waders and boots. Did I miss the trout window already?
I am doing all of my fishing at Hacklebarney - Black River. |

Re: Waders - Black River
I don't fish the Black River so I can't comment on that but the other rivers such as South Branch of Raritan, Musky, Flat Brook all are still producing lots of stocked rainbows. The water temps and flows are still good so get out there and give it a try.
Start with some of the basic nymph patterns (hares ear, prince, RS2, pheasant tail) fished in the deep pools. You need to get a good drift. In the early evening so good dry action has been happening. You could try a nice generic fly like a parachute adams. Good luck and post your results. |

Additionally, I've been wet wading, no waders necessary in this already warm water. Getting my legs wet helps keep me cool too. Smallmouth Bass fishing in rivers is very similar to trout fishing, actually a bit easier maybe. Id lay a streamer ontop of a run, let it drift down, and pull it in on the turnaround. |

I hope to give this a try on Sunday as I am in Wildwood now.
