Default Scene of the Crime

After the M&G frustration of last week I had to get out one more time before wrapping the boat up for the winter.

Woke up to perfect fishing conditions on Saturday. High 50's, overcast and light winds. Three of us headed out and marked a ton of fish. Surface water temps were still 56 degrees.

Fish were very aggressive and it was drop and reel for about an hour. Caught a ton of white perch, just over a dozen hybrids mostly cookie cutters but I landed my PB. She went just over 6 lbs. YES!!!!!!!

I will be haunted by the 2 monsters I lost. I set the hook into one and it didn't even budge. Once it realized it was hooked the drag screamed bloody murder all the way to the anchor line and pop! Almost broke the rod over my knee.

Had another one on but the 6' med/light rod and 6# test I was using were no match.

They are right about the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat!

I'll Be Back Mr Hybrid....I'll Be Back!!

Very nice, nice job finding active fish. These things are tackle busters for sure. Leave the light stuff for the panfish. I run 20lb braid to 10lb flouro leader with them on a medium rod. Anything less will result in lost fish, snapped line, burnt out drag washers, broken noodle rods, and sore shoulders lol. I used a new medium-light on them last weekend and they totally overmatched it it wasnt even funny.

way to go buddy! #10 leader backed by a medium rod is the lightest i'll go cause you never know when the bigger ones will swoop in!

great job squatch, but dont put that boat away yet!? I break thru at least 2 trips of skim ice before I wrap up, the bite is just started and the walleye bite isnt even on yet!!

for the record I use 8' LIGHT action downrigger rods and 8' Medium Lights on the planer board rods and have landed hundreds if not more on these rods. Its all about ur line choice and how u handle the rockets, with ipilot you NEVER have to worry about an anchor line
