Default Night time d&r canal suprise

Hit the D&R canal at night for a hour waiting to pick up a friend from work, was throwing a KVD crank bait and felt some weight reeling in the fish and to my suprise a catfish nailed it, also managed one bass as well

Nice job!

Fishing the canal is almost always a surprise since there is such a wide variety of species. Unfortunately they have been treating it with pesticides to control the growth of Hydrilla. The only problem is it is killing off almost all of the vegetation and it is having a negative impact on the fishing. The fish have no where to go aside from the trees that all fell this past year and they are even pulling those out slowly.

Couple that with the ongoing dredging going on and things may not be the same for a while.

They take out deadfalls, too, which is nice for boating, but the fish thrive with wood in the water.
