Default NETKEEPER - Sun 8/23 Post TS Bill Fluke Report

Had George (gdubya07), Chris and his friend Eric out today for some Post Tropical Storm Bill Open Fluking. Left the dock late today and started fishing 5 minutes away with Eric taking a 23" Fluke at the first drop of the day with a smelt and squid combo. New that was too good to be true and we picked a few more shorts before crossing paths with Fish Peddaler JonDevin. After that spot hoped across the bay finding some short action here and there.

So I decided to turn the hook and work Sandy Hook Channel and neighboring spots as the swells looked more menacing in the distance but they were so widely spaced that we hardly noticed them while fishing. We noticed boat wakes more!! As expected Bucktails and Baits came up dirty and New Penny Gulp Shrimp took many shorts and a few keepers. Most of the shorts were in the 16" to 17 3/4" range and the fish were very clean and thick.

The guys fished hard all day and by days ends tallied 4 Keepers between 18" and 23" and 1 Sea Bass in some tough and frustrating conditions. Couldn't go back and repeat the same drift twice for most of the day.

BTW - Eric and Chris are both very tall guys and make these fish look very small.

It's ok that they're tall, its more important that they hold the fish out at arm's length!

Good job Alan.

Mike, we missed your presence on the bow yesterday. Hope you didn't get tortured too much this weekend. I was going to ask Jon if he could be my trolling motor for the day. LOL 8-)
Ron, Tha's Too, funny, I was so wiped out when I posted last night. Hope the BBQ was fun.
